Obituary for Sandra Joan McLendon
Sandra Joan McLendon of Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida, passed away on Wednesday, June 28, 2023. She was 67. Sandy was born in Cleveland, Ohio. She moved to Howey-in-the-Hills from Orlando about 20 years ago.

Sandy worked for 15 years as the “Lunch Lady†at East Ridge High School in Clermont and then at Lake Hills School in Howey before she retired. She was the kindest, most warm-hearted person. She never met a stranger and was a mother to many of the children. Characterized by her kindness and concern for others, Sandy was a genuine humanitarian. She desired to see only the good in others. She has a gentle spirit filled with life and joy and a sense of humor that would make you break out in laughter. Sandy was highly artistic, creative and enjoyed entertaining family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Clyde McLendon on February 18, 2019. Sandy is remembered and will be dearly missed by her mother, Janet Clark; sister and brother-in-law, Wendy and James Ross Jackson of Leesburg, Florida; brother and sister-in-law, William “Bill†and Kristen Shepler of Clermont, Florida; step-son, Kevin Ryan (Sarah) McLendon of Birmingham, Alabama; step-daughter, Shannon (Andrew) Blankenship of Birmingham; as well as several grandchildren, nephews and nieces.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Saturday, August 5, 2023 from 9:00 – 10:00 AM with a Memorial Ceremony starting at 10:00 AM in the funeral home chapel.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to the American Cancer Society. www.Cancer.org

 Many of us new her as the “Spice Lady” when she worked for R. L. Schreiber. She was an active member of our chapter from 1996 – 2010(?). She assisted me during my presidency of the Gulf to Lakes Chapter. She was the backbone behind all of our successful golf tournaments and other fund raisers. She helped arrange many of our holiday party’s and awards dinners. She was the kindest, most warm-hearted person. She never met a stranger and was a mother to many of the children. Sandy will be missed by Dee & I.
